Biography
Mr. Prodipto Shil Dip has been teaching as a Lecturer of English under the Department of Humanities and Social Science at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). He is serving the university with a view to developing proper language skills among the students. His teaching areas include all the four skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing which are necessary for effective business communications.
Before joining BUTEX, Mr. Dip was a faculty member at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). Earlier, he served as a Lecturer at Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) where he was also the Head and Chief Investigator of its Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism Research Project. Before starting his teaching career at the tertiary level, Mr. Dip gained extensive experience in research and editorial tasks. Just after his M.A. results, because of his professional expertise, he secured a position in the Publications wing of a prestigious National Committee formed by the Government of Bangladesh. Previously, Mr. Dip also served as a Research Assistant to Dr. Fakrul Alam, then UGC Professor at University of Dhaka, and a renowned academician, writer, and translator of the country.
Education
Mr. Prodipto Shil Dip completed both his M.A. in Applied Linguistics and ELT, and B.A. (Hons.) in English with top results from University of Dhaka (DU). He was awarded a merit scholarship by the government, and also recognized as a ‘Student Mentor’ at DU based on his academic achievements in the B.A. (Hons.) examination. Previously, he secured GPA 5 in both his H.S.C. (Science group) from Dhaka College, Dhaka and S.S.C. (Science group) from Govt. Laboratory High School, Dhaka. In his early student life, he commenced learning the English language at the British Council.
Moreover, he earned an International Diploma in French Language (DELF B2) from the Ministry of Education, France as a student of the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka. He was awarded by the Embassy of France, Bangladesh as the ‘Best Translator’ for being the winner of the Translation Competitions during the Francophonie Week 2018 and again in the Francophonie Week 2019. Besides, he earned another International Diploma in Spanish Language (DELE) from the Instituto Cervantes, Spain as a student of the Catedra INDITEX de Lengua y Cultura Espanolas, DU. Furthermore, he received the globally recognized Goethe-Zertifikat in German Language from the Goethe-Institut.
In addition, he gathered hands-on expertise in IT and earned several internationally recognized certificates including Google IT Support Professional Certificate, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Google Business Intelligence Professional Certificate, Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Professional Certificate, Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, etc.
During his student life, Mr. Dip invested his time in co-curricular activities too. He was a member of Dhaka University IT Society, Dhaka University Debating Society, Dhaka University Career Club, Dhaka University Model United Nations Association etc.
