Prof. Dr. Sharfun Nahar Arju obtained her B.Sc. from College of Textile Technology under Dhaka University (now Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX)), M.Sc. from the University of Bolton, UK and Ph.D. from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). She made major contribution through Ph.D. to understanding of dyeing phenomena in composite materials.
In 2000 she joined College of Textile Technology as a lecturer and now she is working as a professor and Dean of the Faculty of Textile Chemical Engineering. Formerly she worked as a textile chemist in Matex Bangladesh Limited and as a technical executive in Swiss Color Bangladesh Limited. And she also worked as scientific officer in Bangladesh Jute Research Institute.
Sharfun is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and life member of Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologist (ITET).

Field of interest:

Her current research interests include composite materials, textile effluent, dyeing, coating and finishing, flame retardant and heat resistant fibres and textiles, durability of textile materials, preparation and processing of preforms.
