Biography

Dr. Ummul Khair Fatema is the founder Chairman of DoESE. She is specialized in Chemical processing of Textile and environmental chemistry. She earned B.Sc. in Textile Technology (former BUTEX in 2000), M.Sc. (TUD, Germany in 2006 under DAAD scholarshiop) and Doctor of Engineering (Shinshu University, Japan in 2011 under Monbukagakusho Scholarship) with excellent grade. After serving several years in textile industry Dr. Fatema joined BUTEX in 2003. Her area of expertise is high performance & functional textiles materials, Polymer, Surface Engineering, Nanotechnology, Organ metallic Chemistry, Heat treatment, Coating Science etc. She taught different courses in undergraduate and post graduate levels. Dr. Ummul Khair Fatema also acts as Proctor & member of academic council of the university.
Her current research focus is chemical modification of textile materials, , Textile process control, Textile chemical management, ECR, pollution control, sustainable resource management, climate change, environmental economics and policy, environmental health, environmental toxicology, water resource management, waste management, environmental valuation and impact assessment, etc.
Dr. Fatema has currently working on higher education development and collaborative research program with several German universities under DAAD project. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with students and takes pride in empowering the next generation of textile professionals with environmental sustainability.

Education
Dr. Ummul Khair Fatema has an extra-ordinary academic background. In all level of her education she awarded many national and international award and scholarships. She completed her SSC from Motijheel Government Girls high School, Dhaka and HSC from Viqarunnissa Noon College, Dhaka with excellent result. Dr. Fatema positioned First Class First scoring record marks in B.Sc. in Textile Technology course from College of Textile Technology under Dhaka University. She is the only honors marks recipient Bangladeshi student in that undergraduate course. She completed her post graduate study from Technical University of Dresden, Germany under prestigious DAAD scholarship in 2006. She came in touch and worked with many worlds famous Professors and Researchers there. Dr. Fatema awarded Doctor of Engineering Degree from Shinshu University, Japan under renowned MONBUKAGAKUSHO scholarship. She attended many international seminar and conference and awarded as best oral presenter award in The 2nd International Students Joint Symposium 2009 on High-tech Fiber Engineering, Nano Fusion Research Group, Shinshu University, Japan. She has research articles in many recognized international journal. Her work attracted many researchers’ attention in her field.
